Acknowledgments
Articles in this collection are signed by the original authors, students who undertook the research on their objects in Prof. Cyrus Mulready's "Materials of History, Thought, and Art" course at SUNY New Paltz. In addition to these individual authors, we thank the following people and institutions for their significant contributions to the project:
Sara Vala (2025) and Claire Dawkins (2019) spent summers working extensively on this project through the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program at SUNY New Paltz. They contributed their own research articles and substantially edited, organized, fact checked, and updated the exhibit. Our sincere thanks, also, to the undergraduate research office for making these grants possible.
The staff at Historic Huguenot Street, who have over many years made this project possible through their patient collaborations and generosity: Josephine Bloodgood, Beth Patkus, Louise McGoldrick, Donna Dixon, Ashley Campone, Carrie Allmendinger, Rebecca Mackey, and Ashley Hurlbert.
Prof. Joseph Diamond, who gave generously of both his objects and time to the project.
Morgan Gwenwald, head of Special Collections at New Paltz, who provided initial guidance and support, as well as inspiration for several of the articles in the collection.
Carol Johnson, the head librarian of the Haviland-Heidgerd Historical Collection at the Elting Memorial Library in New Paltz, for her knowledge and assistance with research.
Jennifer Palmentiero at the Southeastern New York Library Resources Council, as well as her tech support team, for all of her assitance in making this online exhibition a reality.
Jessi Putnam, who designed the cover image of this exhibition.
Professor Pat Sullivan, Director of the Honors Program, for her support of the course and project throughout its life.
