1930-1939

The tugboat “James F. Dwyer” is shown on the Rondout Creek. It towed on the former Erie Canal and on the Hudson River. The tugboat was named after the president of the Dwyer Brothers shipping business. Notice its “beard” fashioned out of old rope adorning the bow, and the wooden and rope bumpers along its side, circa 1930s. HRMM Collection

The Cornell Steamboat Company Tug “Rob” sunk in the Rondout Creek after the freshet (spring thaw flood) of March 1936; this photo shows the swamped boat and Sleightsburgh, NY on the other side. The “Rob” was raised and put back into service. HRMM Collection
