Land and Labor Acknowledgment

It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking, and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Munsee Lenape people, who are Indigenous to this land. We pay honor and respect to their ancestors, as we at Historic Huguenot Street are committed to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.

Further, we respectfully acknowledge the enslaved people, primarily of African descent, and their descendants, who provided the exploited labor on which this community and country were built.

We are indebted to their labor and sacrifices of this region’s historically marginalized groups, and recognize the resulting impact of erasure, racism, and discrimination that can still be felt and witnessed today.
