Slave Emancipation in New York State Article:
General Slave Emancipation in, New-York. The manumission of all the slaves in New York, born previous to uly 4, 1799, will take place on the 4th of July inst. The slave population in that State, in 1810, was 15,000, and there are probably ten thousand ho will receive their freedom on the approaching festivals. After enslaved persons were technically freed, they became indentured servants.
